Selecting a headpiece for the wedding dress

The selection of the headpiece, to a large extent depends how you want to wear your hair, if you are going to keep it long or short and it even depends on how you plan to set your hair. Select an elaborate headband whose design matches closely to that of your fabric. For short hair, a narrow and delicate jeweled band is recommended; whereas for long hairs a wide satin or a silk band looks most elegant.

If you are dressing yourself for a formal wedding, then the headpiece needs to be more elaborate one, the one accentuated with flowers and pearls. On the other hand, you should select a floral wreath if you are draping yourself for a semi formal function.

You can accessorize your hairs by using a tiara that is a good choice for any hair length and any hair style. A fashionable and a contemporary tiara, accented with pearls and rhinestones is sure to make you feel like a princess on the day of your wedding.

The shape of your face also plays an important part while you select a headpiece for your wedding dress. Generally, women with oval shaped face can choose any style of the headpiece, tiaras look really nice on women who have round faces while, headbands and floral accents flatter women having long faces.

Selecting a headpiece for the wedding dress will become an easy task for you if you follow the above guidelines.

Blusher veils

The blusher is a small part of the veil covering the face of the bride during the marriage ceremony. It is an age old custom for the bride to wear the blusher over their face. At the time of their marriage ceremony, this blusher veil is lifted over the head by the groom before kissing the bride.

The blusher is an elegant veil that softens the features of the bride. You can either have a separate blusher veil or use the short top layer of the circular veil as a blusher. The length of the blusher veil ranges from very short veils to the shoulder length ones or even longer ones. But the standard length of the blusher veil is about 18-25”.

The long blusher veils also look attractive. But they should not be longer than 34” as they will create problems to lift it at the time of the ceremony. The most convenient and the easiest way to wear a blusher veil is to sew it on the veil comb and fold it simply backwards as another layer. This will make the blusher veils attach firmly to the headpiece and you can dance and walk easily with it. Also it can be lifted up easily during the ceremony.

You can opt for blusher veils for your marriage if you want to add a traditional panache and elegance to your overall appearance. It enriches the wedding gown and makes the bride stand out in a crowd. You can never forget a bride with an enchanting blusher veil.

Wearing a veil and a tiara

Weddings are extremely special occasions for all brides who have waited for “The Day” ever since they were little girls. Brides like to adorn themselves with a number of things on this special day. They can make use of beautiful headpieces, veils, tiaras, shoes, purses, wedding gowns, etc and so many things to make themselves look beautiful and appealing.

Selecting these wedding accessories wisely is no doubt, one of the important factor, but wearing them with tact is also an important factor to be considered. Let us see how to wear the veil and the tiara that you have selected for your wedding day.

If you are planning to wear the veil at the top of the head, then see that the veil joins the base of the tiara without leaving any gap. You can sew the veil to the tiara itself with an invisible thread or use Velcro instead to attach it to the veil. This makes it easy to remove it during reception or kissing during the marriage ceremony. You can also dance by removing the veil and leave the tiara on your head so that that you look like a princess.

Wear the veil by raising its top layer over the tiara. The blusher will create a more soften look and will create a romantic mood. If you have an elaborated hairdo of your hairs, then the correct way of wearing the tiara is placing it pretty back against the hair without leaving any gap. You can also attach the veil behind your hairdo to get a better effect.

Which veil length is best for you?

Selecting an appropriate veil sometimes becomes a complicated task. But don’t worry, with a few simple tips you will never have trouble in this matter.

There are different types of veil lengths:

Elbow length- This is a veil that should be used if your wedding veil has no train. It is used to display the detailing around your waist of the gown. It also goes better if you have a full skirt gown. You can wear the elbow length veil during the formal as well as the semi formal weddings.

Fingertip length- You can wear this veil with a full length gown that has no trains. It is a 36” long veil that falls at the fingertips of the bride when her hands are rested at the sides.

Cathedral length- This is a floor length veil suitable only for the formal weddings. The veil extends on the floor form about 6” away from the train. This gives a very dramatic appearance. Wear the cathedral length veil with a cathedral length gown to gain a number of compliments.

If you are short in height, then prefer the elbow length veil. Finger length veils should be preferred by those who are taller than 5’7”. Then veil that you select should accentuate the dress that you are wearing. The veil length should be a bit either above or below any detailing on your dress. If you have a sharply defined waistline, choose a veil that ends above or below the waistline.

Veil color and veil lengths

The color and length of the veil are the most important factors to be considered while selecting a veil. A white satin wedding dress goes well with a while colored veil; whereas a white silk wedding dress goes best with a diamond white veil. Diamond white color looks whiter against a gown of ivory light color. So, it is better to use an ivory veil with a light ivory-colored gown. If you have a gown with a dark ivory tone, you should go for a veil that is dark ivory in color. Dark ivory is a very popular color of the wedding dresses. So you can sue a light colored ivory veil with it to complement the dark color of the dress.

You have to be very selective and keen while choosing the length of the bridal veils, too. If your wedding gown is plain and simple without a train, then it is recommended to use the elbow length veil. The shoulder length veils are the best choices for the formal or informal weddings.

If your wedding gown has a train, then you have to opt for the finger tip and the chapel length veils that would be an elegant choice to focus the train of your dress. This is a style to be used for the formal weddings. If you select a wedding gown having a chapel length train, then you cannot deny moving away from the chapel length veil. This would be the only best choice for it.

Similarly, for gowns with a cathedral length train, the cathedral length veil would be an ideal choice
