Selecting your wedding day jewelry

Today’s jewelry for the bride generally includes pearls, diamonds, rhinestones, etc or a combination of 2 or more of them. It also largely depends upon your budget and personal tastes and preferences.

Most of the preparations to select your wedding day jewelry emphasized on the style of the gown. Hairstyle, veil style, ceremony style are other things to be focused on. If you select a white gown, then silver and white pearls will go well with it. An ivory gown looks best with gold/ silver work or ivory pearls. A champagne gown goes well with dark ivory and gold accents. The crystals, diamonds, rhinestones and the faux diamonds works with all styles of gowns.

The jewelry of the bride should also synchronize with the style of the ceremony. A large and a formal wedding require more attractive and elaborate jewelries; whereas a small or an informal wedding can go with simple styles of jewelries.

Then with the veil, it is recommended to have softer bridal jewelries if your veil is detailed too much. If the veil is a traditional one without any beads or accents, and then you can emphasize yourself with glamorous jewelries.

Then with the hairstyle, it is said that with the shorter or the up-do’s hairstyles, loner or the drop earrings up to your neck would be a wonderful choice. If you want your hairs left down open, then it is better to select the earrings that are not very long, but short and simple ones. In this case the short drop earrings studded with simple pearls would be the best choice.

Tips for selecting your wedding headpieces

The style of your wedding gown and the wedding style strongly determine the type of your wedding headpiece. There are different styles of headpieces from which you can choose with veils that can be optional. There are tiaras, headbands, bridal halo, comb, headband, fresh or silk flowers, etc. generally it is better to select the style that will compliment your wedding dress and have some similarity between them.

For e.g. if your gown has pearl accents on it, then it would be best to select a headpiece having pearl designs on it. But anyways, the rhinestone tiaras compliment a number of wedding gowns. A detachable veil serves better if you are using a longer veil for your wedding. This helps you to use a short veil or you can also take out the veil entirely from the headpiece during the reception or at the time of kissing.

Longer veils are very famous for formal and semi-formal weddings. If you are wearing a gown having a longer train, then the veil should extend a foot or two into the train of the dress. If your gown has detailing towards the waist and if you wish to display that, then it is advisable to use the elbow-length veils. You can also combine the blusher veils that go over your face with a longer one for the formal as well as the semi-formal weddings.

This was just a basic overview regarding the tips on selecting the wedding headpieces. You can make alterations in it depending on your tastes and preferences.

Bridal veil lengths

The bridal veils come in three lengths elbow, fingertip and cathedral. Currently, it is recommended to use the 72” wide veil as it is most flattering and the veil does not appear very thick and super proofy. The 108” wide veil is generally avoided by most of them because it is said that it is too full and covers the back of the gown completely. Thus, it overshadows the bride.

The length of the veil should be such that it should be proportionate and accentuate the dress and not cover its important details. The veil length should be cut just either above or below any point of your dress to be emphasized. Avoid selecting the veil lengths such that is ends where your bodice begins. This creates an effect that you are cut into halves visually. If you a proper defined waistline, then it is advisable to select such veil lengths that will end exactly at the waistline.

The length of the veil should not be also very short that may cover only lavish details on the back of your gown, if you are supposing to show off. A long length-veil will focus on all the details. The brides who are blow the height 5’4”, short veils are not recommended for them. This is so because the shorter veils end at the middle thigh and this visually cuts your legs into half.

Long veils have now come back into fashion. It creates a romantic look and attracts the bridegroom more than any other bridal veil length. If you are wearing a dress with a full skirt, then an elbow length veil will best suit it. This veil should end below the lower back, but above the beginning of the skirt.

Veils are very popular and its selection depends upon the individual tastes and preferences of the bride.

Blusher veils

Blusher is a short veil that covers only the face of the bride as she enters any ceremony. Formerly, such veils were used to hide the bride from the groom till they were legally pronounced as husband and wife. The blusher veils are now available in different lengths. You can select short and simple veils with less fabric to get a more modernized look. The full blusher veils give a more traditional appearance.

Generally the blusher veils are of the shoulder-length worn over the fasces of the bride. It is combined typically with other lengths that can be used for formal or semi-formal weddings. The blusher veil, will no doubt, soften and transfer your appearance as a whole completely.

It is recommended that the blusher veils should not be long than 34”. Because, otherwise it will get jumbled in your flowers and then would become difficult to lift it at the time of the ceremony. There are some blushers available that are detachable. This is another way to show off your details. The most convenient and easiest way is to get the blusher veil sewn with the veil comb and then just fold it backwards as a different layer.

Any 2 or 3 tiered veil can be used as a blusher veil. A single layer of the veil is worn generally on the face at the time of the wedding ceremony and then that is flipped back over your head at the time of kissing. All these veils have a finished edge with a satin ribbon.
