An American wedding is full of many age-old traditions. The thought behind these customs is mainly to ward away the evil spirits from the bride, as she is thought to be the most vulnerable. The wearing of a veil by the bride was also brought into practice to provide protection to the bride, as it was thought that the veil would “disguise the bride” and “outwit these malevolent spirits”.

The wearing of the veil by the bride was first started in Rome. However, apart from the different reasons behind wearing a veil, the fact remains that, veils enhance the beauty of the bride and is still very popular among the brides. This is because, the design, style and embellishment of a veil, is truly very fascinating. The veils also vary greatly in terms on their lengths, colors and even there are different types of edging for decorating bridal veils, available in the market.

The different types of edging pattern for a bridal veil is a plain edge, pencil edge and the rattail cord or satin cord edge etc. The edging on a bridal veil is made more decorative and attractive with the use of different adornments like the pearl, rhinestones or can be left simple with the help of a ribbon, etc. For the pearl edging, a string of pearls is sewn onto the edge. Similar method is carried for the rhinestone edging. A veil decorated with pearl edging is very elegant and classy in its appearance, where as a veil with rhinestone edge embellishment adds a sparkling shine to the bridal dressing on her big day.
