The tradition of wedding favors
The wedding day is the most important day in “every couple’s life”. There are various ways and means, which can be adopted for making this day special and memorable. However, one assured way of making your wedding day memorable to your guests is by giving away the wedding favors. The tradition of wedding favors is carried down from centuries and is still widely practiced in most of the American wedding ceremonies.
The tradition of wedding favors dates back in the historical times and was first started in Europe. Initially the wealthy European upper class people provided the wedding favors, those who had enough wealth to give away gifts to their guest. In the earlier times, the wedding favors comprised of “small fancy boxes” popularly known as the “bonboniere”. These bonboniere were made of porcelain, crystal or gold, which were decorated using precious stones. These boxes or the bonboniere were filled with “confectionery delicacies”. Almonds were also lately used the wedding favor.
However, today the tradition of wedding favors is carried on enthusiastically, depending on the budget and the interest of the wedding couple. Also today, there are many wedding favors, which are affordable, and are available in different types in the market. The popular wedding favors are candles, scented soaps, toast glasses, bottle stoppers, spoon sets and many more. The wedding favors can also be chosen depending on the theme of the wedding. Nevertheless, one thing is for sure, that the tradition of the wedding favor “serves as souvenir” and “a gift of appreciation to your guests”.
